10 Yellow Ranunculus
10 Yellow Ranunculus
The large, double flowers in a wide range of bright colours make a dazzling display in the garden or in the vase. Ranunculus is easy to grow in full sun, preferably in an open, exposed position. Beware of powdery mildew growing on the leaves as the plants develop, and spray with a suitable fungicide.
Ranunculus needs well-draining soil that is watered often. . When planting the tuberous root, the claws should be facing downwards. These plants need to be watered once every three or four days. A mulch is recommended to keep the soil cool and moist. The lowest temperature the plant can tolerate is -10°C.
- Prepare the soil by working in a good amount of compost and cover with mulch.
- Before planting it is recommended to presoak the corms in water for 4-6 hours.
- If you plant to start your corms in doors you can do so 4-6 weeks before the last frost by soaking and sowing in seed trays with some germination mix.
- Planting position: Full sun
- Planting depth: Cover with 5 -10 cm of soil
- Planting time: Early April to the end of May
- Flowering time: July to September
The plant can be lifted and stored but it is recommended to buy new ones for the new season because this will yield better results.
